New European Art

New European Art is an act of solidarity, a journey, a reflection on war, an examination of Post-Brexit Britain, a celebration of art and of Europe. We go from Ukrainian marches, through Belarusian forests, past Bosnian memorials, into Glaswegian galleries to meet Polish punks, Greek anarchist poets and basement bands, at northern soul nights, non-league football matches and your local country boozer.

New European Art heralds the arrival of a unique and vital voice in contemporary British poetry. Experimental in form, playful in language - but always imbued with a sense of quiet purpose - these poems illuminate forgotten corners of our recent history while intoxicating your cerebral cortex with the sheer joy of expression. The collection takes you on a trip from English villages to Balkan bars and back again, exploring the remnants of a crumbling civilisation with a magpie's eye for detail and an artist's instinct.

This collection is like hitchhiking through Europe, trying to figure out what it actually is, outside the guide books and official versions of history. I admire the courage with which Mark Coverdale faces Europe. It is this punchy energy and radical honesty that Europe itself today lacks, which you’ll find in these poems.

Coverdale's poems are watercolours on postage stamps, and not the fucking regal side!
